The Italian Football Federation and Lega Serie A were placed under Commissioners after the failure to elect new Presidents.
Many reforms have already been pushed through, including the introduction of ‘Boxing Day’ Serie A fixtures and the shortening of the transfer sessions so as not to overlap with fixtures.
Among the reforms discussed for some time is the introduction of Reserve Teams, allowing a club’s players to compete at a strong level such as in Serie B rather than be farmed out on loan to Lega Pro.
“We are trying to give those players who don’t get much time on the field to have other chances to shine,” Costacurta told Rai Sport.
“Many people have worked on the idea of getting Reserve Teams introduced and I believe this time with the Commissioner we will achieve it.”
He was speaking at half-time in the Italy Under-21 side’s friendly against Norway, the debut for former Under-20 boss Alberico Evani.
“Evani knows these lads very well. You can see how little Chicco needs to shout on the touchline, as he’s done all the talking beforehand.
“The Federal structure is in my view very good. We’re getting results with the Under-17 and Under-19 sides, so the players are there, the Coaches are there and the future is positive.”
