Empoli President Fabrizio Corsi is supporting Napoli for the Scudetto “for many reasons.”

Partenopei Coach Maurizio Sarri, as well as players Mirko Valdifiori and Elseid Hysaj swapped Tuscany for Naples this summer.

“I spoke with Sarri 10 days ago, and I was happy because I feel close to him,” Corsi told Radio Crc.

“He’s a person who remains in our history, and we’re struggling to turn the page. We can hardly forget the mark Sarri made, even if the new Coach [Marco Giampaolo] will make his own.

“We talked about different things, and he complained about the fact that you can’t work with certain players continuously because they’re with their national teams, but that’s the price you pay when you work for a big club.

“The Scudetto? I don’t want to make predictions, but I’m cheering on Napoli for many reasons. We’re fighting in another League, we have a squad of young, interesting players and we’ll certainly do our best.”

Corsi also gave his assessment of Valdifiori and Hysaj, and believes the former is struggling with expectations.

“Valdifiori is suffering a little under the pressure at Napoli, there’s something lacking in his personality to deal with the situation better.

“Hysaj, on the other hand, has a distinct character and a great competitive cynicism. He’s now worth three times what Napoli paid for him.

“One thing is certain, the Azzurri will be one of the best teams in Europe.”
