Italy recorded 192 new coronavirus fatalities on Saturday, marking the country’s lowest daily death toll since March 14.

Another 474 deaths were officially reported in the last 24 hours – a jump of more than 200 compared to Friday’s figure.

However, it later emerged that the number of 474 included 282 Lombardy deaths unaccounted for from April.

Elsewhere, hospital numbers and new cases continue to drop ahead of Phase Two of Italy’s COVID-19 response, which begins on Monday.

Elsewhere, hospital numbers and new cases continue to drop ahead of Phase Two of Italy’s COVID-19 response, which begins on Monday.

As of Saturday, there have been 209,328 positive tests of COVID-19 (+1,900), with 100,704 of them currently active (-239).

A total of 79,914 people have recovered (+1,620) and 28,710 have died.

Out of the 100,704 active cases, 81,808 are in self-isolation (+39), 17,357 are in hospital with symptoms (-212) and 1,539 are in intensive care (-39).

There have now been 2,108,857 tests, an increase of 55,412 since yesterday.
