The daily death toll for coronavirus has fallen to 269 in Italy, with over 2,000 patients recovering and more big drops in hospital numbers.

Friday’s statistics also show tests in the country have surpassed the 2,000,000 mark.

Even more encouragingly, less than 2,000 new cases were detected in 74,208 new swabs.

As of Friday, there have been 207,428 positive tests of COVID-19 (+1,965), with 100,943 of them currently active (-608).

A total of 78,294 people have recovered (+2,349) and 28,236 have died.

Out of the 100,943 active cases, 81,796 are in self-isolation (+88), 17,569 are in hospital with symptoms (-580) and 1,578 are in intensive care (-116).

There have now been 2,053,425 tests, an increase of 74,208 since yesterday.
