There were 179 new coronavirus deaths in Italy on Monday, but the number of intensive care admissions has dropped below 1,000.

The last time Italy recorded less than 1,000 patients in ICU was on March 10, when the country had yet to reach its peak of the contagion.

Elsewhere, active cases, self-isolations and hospitalisations have continued to drop, while 1,401 more people have recovered.

As of Monday, there have been 219,814 positive tests of COVID-19 (+744), with 82,488 of them currently active (-836).

As of Monday, there have been 219,814 positive tests of COVID-19 (+744), with 82,488 of them currently active (-836).

A total of 106,587 people have recovered (+1,401) and 30,739 have died.

Out of the 82,488 active cases, 69,974 are in self-isolation (-2,024), 13,539 are in hospital with symptoms (-79) and 999 are in intensive care (-79).

There have now been 2,606,652 tests, an increase of 40,740 since yesterday.
