There were 71 deaths related to COVID-19 in Italy over the last 24 hours, but only 202 new cases, of which 99 were in Lombardy.

Today’s figures released by the Italian Government show 71 deaths, with 202 new positive cases, half of which were in Lombardy.

Out of 62,699 swabs throughout the country, there were 202 positive results, so 0.32 per cent.

The total number of current active cases fell by 1,162.

Another 1,293 people were given the all-clear, 14 left intensive care (leaving just 249), there are 4,320 in hospital (-261) and 28,028 self-isolating at home with minor symptoms (-887).

In Lombardy alone, there are 17,857 currently active cases (-440), with 99 new positive tests from 9,305 swabs, and a further 32 deaths since yesterday.

There are eight regions with zero new cases and 16 regions with under five additional patients.
