There were 44 deaths related to COVID-19 in Italy over the last 24 hours and 338 new positive tests, 244 of which in Lombardy, one of only two regions with at least 20 new cases.

The pandemic curve is falling rapidly in the Peninsula, although Lombardy remains the statistical outlier.

The 44 new deaths took the total since the crisis began on February 20 to 34,345, of which 16,449 were in the Lombardy region.

The 44 new deaths took the total since the crisis began on February 20 to 34,345, of which 16,449 were in the Lombardy region.

There are only 209 patients still in intensive care due to coronavirus, -11 from yesterday, and 3,594 are hospitalised with symptoms, but 22,471 are self-isolating at home.

So although 34,345 people have died from the virus, 176,370 made a full recovery.

Out of 56,527 swabs taken over the last 24 hours in Italy, only 338 were positive.

The most important news is that there are now only two regions with at least 20 new daily cases, specifically Lombardy (244) and Piedmont (30), along with eight regions that have zero positive tests.
