Brescia President Gino Corioni has revealed his intention to leave the club after 20 years at the helm.

His decision isn't apparently related to Brescia's position in the relegation zone.

Brescia currently lie second from bottom in Serie A, four points adrift of safety.

"My era at Brescia is over," Corioni said. "The city is too big to deserve a small President like me.

"I have said many times that I want to step aside. Now it's different. Now I have to do it.

"I haven't said that I will give the keys to the club to the mayor, I am only saying that I can't go forward either in Serie A or Serie B."
