“An agreement couldn’t be found between Chievo and myself to remain,” the ex club captain told Sky Sport Italia.

“I’ve now decided to wait for another opportunity in Serie A. We’ll have to see if anything comes my way once the season has started.

“I’ll evaluate any eventual offers over the next few months.”

The 42-year-old’s coaching career is limited to brief spells with Portogruaro, Crotone, Frosinone and the Flying Donkeys.
