Eugenio Corini concedes Palermo let in “avoidable goals” in a 4-1 defeat to Sassuolo, but awaits news on his future.

The Sicilians had taken the lead at the Mapei Stadium through Robin Quaison, but it all fell apart.

“I think we took the right approach and it did start well, creating situations we knew could cause Sassuolo problems, and passing it out from the back,” the Coach told Sky Sport Italia.

The Sicilians had taken the lead at the Mapei Stadium through Robin Quaison, but it all fell apart.

“I think we took the right approach and it did start well, creating situations we knew could cause Sassuolo problems, and passing it out from the back,” the Coach told Sky Sport Italia.

“Unfortunately we conceded two bad goals that changed the situation. We remained positive and had a great chance just before the 3-1 and that was also an entirely avoidable goal.

“With the situation as it has been over the last few months, the lads felt the wind knocked out of their sails and Sassuolo even scored a fourth on the counter.”

Palermo President Maurizio Zamparini tried to fire Corini this week and only changed his mind because Roberto De Zerbi refused to return. What happens next?

“It’s a complicated situation. When I arrived, the team had six points from 14 games. I think we’ve shown positive signs, from the performances as well as the results.

“Considering the situation when I arrived, I expected a little more time and understanding. We all have to believe together. I haven’t heard from the President, though I’m sure tonight or tomorrow I’ll understand if we want to make something of this season.”
