Eugenio Corini was in the Chievo side that conquered Inter at San Siro in 2001 and hopes he can achieve it again as a Coach tomorrow night.

Bernardo Corradi and Massimo Marazzina were on target for that 2-1 victory on December 15 2001.

“It will be an evening game, just like in 2001,” smiled Corini. “It might bring us good look and we can achieve another extraordinary result.

“That will certainly remain the best game of my life, the one I will remember always. We were expected to get relegated, but beat Inter and went to the top of the table by playing spectacular football. That exploit took Chievo’s name around the world.

“I remember the goals, the authority with which we stayed on the field and the celebrations. Fabio Moro and Salvatore Lanna didn’t want to leave after the final whistle! We stayed out there for a while to enjoy the moment, as we had written a page in history that was unlikely to ever happen again.

“Now we come back here and hope to experience the same sensations. Inter might not be at their best right now, but this team has such high potential that they will always remain among the favourites.

“Last Sunday Siena beat them by putting in a fantastic performance and we must do the same. Chievo must be perfect and also hope Inter get distracted.”
