The first official outing of the season almost got off to a bad start, as Pisa hit the crossbar early on, but Andrea Poli put Bologna in front with a precise header on Roberto Soriano’s cross.

Mattia Destro turned wide and Riccardo Orsolini was denied by a goal-line clearance, but the winger did get his goal with a left-foot strike from a tight angle. It was a rugby-style move left to right from Rodrigo Palacio to Soriano and eventually Orsolini.

Palacio added a third himself moments later, a curler into the far top corner that was simply unstoppable.

Lukasz Skorupski kept the clean sheet in the final minute by denying Asencio’s lob.
