Antonio Conte could be handed a new long-term contract with Juventus in a ‘Sir Alex Ferguson’ role.

The Coach won the Scudetto at his first attempt and this week saw his 10-month ban in a betting scandal reduced to four.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Juve will propose a new three-year extension to his current contract, so he’ll be tied to the Turin giants until June 2018.

However, this contract would include further powers than Coaches usually get in Serie A.

Conte would be involved in transfer strategy and essentially on a par with the directors, much like Ferguson is at Manchester United.

Meanwhile, today’s game with Siena could be the last for Massimo Carrera on the bench.

Conte returns from his ban on December 9, but assistant manager Angelo Alessio faces the TNAS appeals tribunal next week and could have a substantial discount on his suspension too.

It’s rumoured Alessio could be available on the touchline from October 10, as his original eight-month ban has already been cut once on appeal.
