The former Azzurri CT has taken over at Stamford Bridge, and had his first Press conference this afternoon.

“It’s a great pleasure for me to sit here,” Conte began by saying, offering apologies for his English.

“I’m very happy, I think that I worked a lot to sit here and I’m excited for this moment and to start a new season with Chelsea.

“This is a new chapter for my life, for my career, for me and for my family. I’m very happy to start work in a new country, a fantastic country in a fantastic League like the English one.

“I think that this League is very, very difficult, the most difficult in the world because there are six or seven teams who can win the title.

“Chelsea is a great team, I’m very proud to be the new manager, the new Coach, of this great team.

“My experience with Italy? I think what I’ll bring is everything I learned, my technical experience as a player and Coach. I’m very proud of everything I did.

“I’ll also try to represent my country, it’s a great responsibility for me, I’ll try to do my best and make my compatriots proud.

“I decided to leave the national team after our qualification to the Euros because I wanted to come back to breathe the grass, to be with my players, to improve them and to work with them day-by-day.

“For this reason I decided to go back to club management and then I had this great opportunity to speak with Chelsea.

Conte was asked what philosophy he would be bringing the the Premier League.

“The most important message is that I’m a worker I like to work and that’s the only path I know to winning. I know only this verb: work, work and work.

“I’m very happy though, because I’ve found the right attitude at Cobham and I’m very happy about that.

“In these two days I’ve seen players with the right attitude, the right behaviour and the right will to fight for this shirt, as well as to fight to quickly get back to competing for the best positions, to compete to win the title.

“I’m very glad to see these things, and I think that’s very important.”
