"Today feels much harder than yesterday. Now that it is over, I can say it's a shame for the lads. For me it was a great honour to Coach them and they truly gave everything they had,” said a visibly moved Conte in his Press conference.

“I also want to thank the staff, all those who worked with us and made us feel at home. A particular thanks goes to someone who was always silent but precious to me, and that is Lele Oriali. He’s an incredible person with great values.

“I thank the President for allowing me this extraordinary experience that will stay with me forever. I thank the media too. I know I am not an easy person to deal with, but we got to know each other over these two years and reached great mutual respect.

“People are not all the same, but when they get to know each other, I feel there is respect and understanding. I wish all the best to the Nazionale, to Ventura and feel we have left a strong path that can take our colours higher and higher.

“The most important thing from this Euros was ensuring Italy were respected by everyone, including the European and World Champions.

“Thank you from the heart. I repeat, I hope this is not a goodbye, but a see you soon.”
