Antonio Conte said “there was nothing easy” about qualifying for Euro 2016 and he saw “improving” Italy in Azerbaijan.

The 3-1 victory in Baku proved enough to book their spot in the tournament next summer.

“Now that we have secured qualification it might’ve seemed easy, but there was nothing easy about it,” the Coach told Rai Sport.

“I am happy as we are working well and I saw a team that is improving, so we must continue this work.

“Fitness levels are important, but we also changed on a tactical level. This squad is becoming more and more aware of its capabilities and that can bring us great things.

“We have to honour qualification with a great game in Rome against Norway.”

A draw on Tuesday will be enough to secure the top spot in their group.

“The issue of being top seeds is tricky, as in the FIFA rankings Croatia are above us and we are above them in the group. I really have difficulty understanding some of these mechanisms.”
