Antonio Conte assures Italy are “focused and thinking about work” ahead of Euro 2016.

The Azzurri had their first training session in Montpellier today ahead of the European Championships, and the CT addressed the media afterward.

“We must pay very little attention to whatever comes from outside,” Conte shrugged.

“We’re focused and thinking about work, about improving on our principles and our ideas. We have to be focused, honest with ourselves and try to go as far as possible.

“We’re focused and thinking about work, about improving on our principles and our ideas. We have to be focused, honest with ourselves and try to go as far as possible.

“We have to get our head down and pedal, paying no attention to who is around us, but concentrating on catching whoever is ahead of us.

“My squad? There’s nothing to clarify. I chose 23 players who have my trust, I know what they can do.”

Conte was accompanied by FIGC President Carlo Tavecchio, as well as the mayor of Montpellier, and he thanked the French city for their hospitality.

“I thank the mayor and the city of Montpellier for the welcome they’ve given us. We made a careful choice, this offers us a great sports centre, a quiet town and a large Italian contingent. It’s the ideal location.

“Our fans have given us energy and enthusiasm. We thank them, they’re very important.

“We’re working in higher temperatures than at Coverciano, there it was cooler and we worked better.

“Today we faced temperatures of 26-27 degrees, so we have to acclimatise in a hurry.”
