The former Juventus boss took over from Cesare Prandelli in August and has so far won all three games in charge against Holland, Norway and Azerbaijan.

“I must be a Coach for this Nazionale,” noted Conte in a Press conference ahead of tomorrow’s Euro 2016 qualifier in Malta.

“Usually the CT is just a selector, but I want to be anything except a selector. The reason I took on this challenge is to make the Nazionale like a club.

“Of course I’d love to become like Enzo Bearzot or the others for what they have won, but primarily I’d like to be a real Coach for this side.”

As part of this philosophy, Conte is eager to analyse the commitment and work rate of his players.

“The worker thinks of ‘us’ and not ‘I.’ The thing I always teach my players is that the phenomenon thinks of ‘I’, but you don’t know where he’s going to end up…”
