Conte has become renowned for his work ethic as a coach, the results of which can be seen by Inter winning 10 of their first 12 Serie A games this season.

However, his demanding ways have been mistaken for abrasiveness by some and the former Juventus boss was asked about his methods during a trip to Saudi Arabia.

“I must be the first to set a good example and give not 100 percent but 110%,” explained the 50-year-old

“Once you start transmitting this daily, it’s obvious that you also raise the bar for those who work with you, your players.

“The demands must become high for all of us if we want to write history – or in our sense, win things.

“That’s because winners write history for the clubs they represent. I’m aware I’m very demanding and that so many people struggle with me.

“When you arrive at a new club, not everyone is used to the pace you bring and you risk leaving someone behind because they can’t withstand how much you rev the engine.

“However, if the ambition is to win, achieve something important and write history then it’s inevitable to ask so much of yourself and others.

“It’s a way of working to excel and try to win. It’s not a given that we’ll end up winning, but the important thing is that, at the end of the season, you know you’ve done everything possible in terms of working to achieve the maximum.”
