Italy CT Antonio Conte insists “I have faith in my lads” despite a 4-1 defeat to Germany.

The Azzurri were taken apart in Munich last night, raising concerns about Euro 2016 this summer.

“I have faith in my lads, I know I can count on them,” Conte told ANSA.

“We all have to keep our feet on the ground. We’re coming from a failed World Cup [in 2014], and the number of eligible players in Serie A has halved in the last 10 years.

“We knew the gap to the great teams, we can’t be a selection, we have to be a team. When I say that the players [for Euro 2016] are the ones here, I’d remind everyone that I haven’t left any potential Italy player at home.

“These are the ones I have to work with for the European Championship.

“I said it yesterday and I’ll repeat it: nobody has been rejected, because the commitment was at the maximum yesterday. The response came.

“We didn’t solve all our problems with the draw against Spain and we haven’t found them all with the defeat to Germany.

“We have to remember where we came from, and be aware that we’re on a journey. We’ll see when it bears fruit.”
