According to La Gazzetta dello Sport newspaper, Conte is asking for 29-year-old Chelsea midfielder Kante, who is no longer untouchable in Frank Lampard’s team.

The France international has made 27 competitive appearances for Chelsea this term, scoring three goals, but hasn’t featured in the last two outings.

Kante played 89 games under Conte at Stamford Bridge and would relish a reunion.

Another midfield option is Vidal, whose contract with Barcelona expires in June 2021.

As he just turned 33, Inter directors were unwilling to pay the €20m asking price in January.

It is well known that the Nerazzurri are pursuing another Chelsea player, left-back Emerson Palmieri, who is again valued at approximately €20m.
