The 50-year-old Serbian has left the clinic in Bologna for the first time in six weeks after a course of chemotherapy.

He was diagnosed with leukaemia six weeks ago and has been undergoing treatment, but continued to train the squad from a distance using modern technology.

Apparently that is not enough for Mihajlovic, who wants to be there for the opening Serie A game of the season.

It is a risky move, as chemotherapy can leave the immune system weakened, but this latest report suggests his doctors are working with the Bologna staff to ensure he is kept safe.
