The President was asked if he had absolute faith in Montella, but the response was telling.

“That’s a strong term… We’re taking it one day at a time. I will speak to the team when we get back to Florence.”

This seems to be rather different to the approach taken by director of sport Daniele Pradè, who said Montella will certainly be on the bench against Inter and Roma.

“I am angry with everyone, including myself. We played a horrible first half, there are many games to go until the end of the season and we must try to get more points.

“The objective is not to get into the Champions League, but to do better than last season.”

The January transfer window is coming up and Commisso confirmed there will be developments.

“We have to all sit down together and talk about how to help the team.”
