FIGC President Gabriele Gravina has confirmed that a commissioner will run Serie A from December 3, “as long as there are no elections the day before.”

Gaetano Micciche recently stepped down from his role as President of Lega Serie A, on the grounds of “unacceptable” speculation concerning the legality of his election in March 2018.

“Micciche’s made his decision, but I hope he changes his mind,” Gravina said at a Press conference.

Gaetano Micciche recently stepped down from his role as President of Lega Serie A, on the grounds of “unacceptable” speculation concerning the legality of his election in March 2018.

“Micciche’s made his decision, but I hope he changes his mind,” Gravina said at a Press conference.

“In light of all this, however, I asked the League, not in the form of conflict or competition against the CEO of Serie A, to call a meeting without delay, which is scheduled for December 2.

“We don’t want to undermine the League. Whatever the process is, there will never be any willingness on my part to fill the office of commissioner.

“Therefore, I proposed the appointment of Mario Cicala as commissioner, starting from December 3, as long as there are no elections the day before.”

A commissionership similarly ran the federation before its current chief was appointed in October last year.
