He is a free agent after his contract with Atalanta expired, but could well remain in Serie A.
According to Sportitalia, Yepes is close to signing for Sinisa Mihajlovic’s Sampdoria.
He would provide experience and guidance for the younger members of the defence.
The Blucerchiati had approached Walter Samuel for that role, but the ex-Inter star opted for FC Basel in Switzerland.
