Speaking to Sky Sports today, the 50-year-old has hinted that at a potential return one day to the Premier League and perhaps even to the Citizens.

“I don't know, I think it would be unlikely, but once I used to say that I wouldn't come back to Inter,” Mancini has reflected.

“Football is strange. I'd like to return to England because football over there is fantastic and another experience in the future is possible.”

The former Sampdoria striker was asked whether he would serve teams like Arsenal, Manchester United or Liverpool in spite of his former allegiance to City.

“I'm a professional, I'm happy about the things I've done with City, but I'd take an opportunity were it to present itself, even while keeping City in my heart.”

Finally, Mancini seemed sceptical about the idea of seeing Balotelli in an Inter shirt again.

“I love Mario as a player and as a person and I hope he can play well with Liverpool. His quality is top, even if he isn't going through a good moment.

“About taking him in with Inter, I think the situation in Italy would make things difficult for him.

“But that's not about me, I have no problems. Now he's in Liverpool, a great club, and that's where he must play well.”
