Djibril Cisse has reiterated his desire to stay at Lazio, amid reports linking him with a return home to France in January.

The mis-firing forward has failed to score in his last 20 appearances in all competitions for the Aquile with reports both intimating that in January his club are looking to reinforce the striking department and that former club Auxerre are interested in taking him back.

However, even as Auxerre President Gérard Bourgoin has confirmed the Ligue 1 club’s desires to do so, Cisse has commented, via his Twitter account, that he wants to remain in Rome during this winter transfer window.

“I hear a lot about me, so I want to clarify the situation – I will stay at Lazio and you will see who I am.

“I will not drop, I’m a fighter and I’ll show you. I look forward to playing again.”

Cisse has received criticism for his goal drought, perhaps most notably from former Lazio President Sergio Cragnotti.
