Chievo’s list of candidates to replace Eugenio Corini has seemingly expanded, with Virtus Lanciano’s Carmine Gautieri heading a group six options.

Morning reports in Italy suggested that the Flying Donkeys were interested predominantly in succeeding Corini with Bari’s Vincenzo Torrente.

However, the Corriere dello Sport suggest that the Serie A side’s search has widened and that Lanciano’s Gautieri is now the frontrunner.

The 42-year-old has been in charge of Lanciano since 2011, last year taking the team to Serie B for the first time in their history and this campaign successfully seeing them avoid relegation.

Alongside Gautieri and Torrente, though, Chievo’s sporting director Giovanni Sartori is said to be considering Gian Piero Gasperini, Giuseppe Sannino, Brescia tactician Alessandro Calori and Beppe Iachini, for whom it would be a return to the Marc’Antonio Bentegodi.

The club’s sporting director Francesco Marroccu had recently suggested that their intention this summer is to keep hold of the left-back.
