Giorgio Chiellini pleased with Juventus’ start to the season “after an eventful summer” and is targeting Atletico Madrid.

The defender sat down with Juventus TV for an interview after the 3-0 victory over Cesena, which maintained their 100 per cent record between Serie A and Champions League.

“We are happy with this start to the season. It’s an important sign after an eventful summer,” he said of Max Allegri replacing Antonio Conte in the first week of training.

“We had a great approach against Cesena, we deservedly took the lead and kept our concentration levels high.

“Last night a few important players rested, while Vidal returned to the pitch, so there were many good signs.

“At this start of the campaign we are more or less all getting playing time, so we saw once again how important the whole squad is.”

Juve travel to Atalanta this weekend, but Chiellini is already looking forward to the Champions League trip to Atletico Madrid.

“The Champions League has a different physicality compared to in Italy. We started well by beating Malmo, but now we need a great performance in Madrid.”
