According to Sarri’s lawyer in the talks, there was no payment from Chelsea or Sarri, but it’s widely reported there is a ‘pact’ in writing ensuring the Coach won’t come back for any players other than Jorginho.
“Allow me to say that the last two days put me side-by-side with two real world class negotiators, Aurelio De Laurentiis and Andrea Chiavelli,” Grassani told Radio CRC.
“The work had a thousand stop and go moments, but I think it can represent a new trend for the market of Coaches.
“We managed to preclude Chelsea from starting negotiations with Napoli for a certain number of years, including for players who have release clauses.
“Players form a bond with Coaches, Sarri was at Napoli for three years and above all is admired by many Azzurri, but the President wanted to safeguard the integrity of this squad.”
There are reports Jorginho was included as part of a package deal worth €57m plus €8m bonuses bringing Sarri to Chelsea.
“The two operations are not connected, as they were two autonomous negotiations, but there’s no point denying that Jorginho was chosen by Sarri and Napoli agreed to this type of transfer.”
