Romelu Lukaku has just 40 days to convince Inter to set up a new loan deal with Chelsea, something he’s desperately fighting for.

The 29-year-old Belgian striker has failed to match expectations since returning to the Nerazzurri last summer in a costly deal worth around €20m between loan fees and wages, scoring just five goals in 19 Serie A appearances.

Inter have made it clear that they do not expect to have Lukaku in their squad for next season, but the Belgian striker has no desire to return to Chelsea in the summer, pushing him to action.

As reported by Corriere dello Sport, Lukaku is desperate to convince Inter to agree a new loan deal with Chelsea and wants to convince them with his work on the pitch in the final stages of this season.

He did well in their 3-0 win over Empoli on Saturday, scoring a brace and providing the assist for Lautaro Martinez’s late strike, and he’s hoping to maintain this level for the next 40 days, hopefully doing enough to make Inter reconsider their plans.
