The Torino wide attacker, co-owned with Fiorentina, has been included in the set-up for the friendly against Brazil and the World Cup qualifier versus Malta.
“I’m enjoying this moment and I’m happy,” the 25-year-old commented at Coverciano on Monday morning.
“I had a number of objectives after joining Torino in the summer and I’ve achieved the first one. It is an honour and a dream to be here.
“This is a point of departure for me and I need to keep moving forward.
“It is an important moment and I dedicate this call up to my girlfriend and my friends. I also thank Coach Cesare Prandelli for picking me.”
Cerci was tipped for international recognition after initially impressing with the Viola in previous campaigns, but his career ultimately stalled in Tuscany.
“This selection is not revenge for anything,” he added. “The past is the past. All I am thinking about right now is playing well.”
