Ivo Pulga says Massimo Cellino has asked him to stay on at Cagliari for next season, as he promises the team’s ‘backbone will not be touched’.

The Isolani have endured an uncertain season but secured League safety in advance of the final weeks of the season with Pulga as Coach.

Having been brought back in to replace Diego Lopez on the bench in April, the 49-year-old has indicated that he expects to still be in charge for next term too.

Having been brought back in to replace Diego Lopez on the bench in April, the 49-year-old has indicated that he expects to still be in charge for next term too.

“This week Cellino has called me and asked for my availability for next season,” Pulga has revealed at this season’s conclusion to L’Unione Sarda.

“I answered yes. In the coming days we will discuss my future.

“The project will be done together, the squad is established for years, the backbone will not be touched, whilst we will then evaluate the requests of various players.”
