Cellino completed his purchase of Brescia earlier last week, but the former Cagliari and Leeds United President admits he will ask his Serie A counterparts “for a hand” after struggling to bring in new faces so far.

“I’ll be in Brescia on Thursday because we have to push ahead and there’s no time to waste,” he told Il Giornale di Brescia.

“I didn’t think it’d be so difficult to get players to play in Serie B for Brescia.

“I’d been negotiating several deals for players, but they’ve faded away because the League we play in didn’t attract them.

“At the moment, we’re rather thin and we don’t have enough [players] to tackle the campaign.

“We need four or five additions, at least one in each department. I’ll ask the Serie A Presidents, who are my friends, for a hand, to see if they can reinforce our squad after Ferragosto [on August 15].

“Still, I don’t know how many players are still around, who can do the trick.”
