Edinson Cavani could earn around €4.5m a season at Napoli as part of his proposed new deal at the Stadio San Paolo.

Reports yesterday emerged that the Uruguayan was close to an improved contract and figures are today being discussed by the media.

According to Il Mattino, the former Palermo man will see his current salary of €2.9m a term increased to €4.5m.

The 25-year-old is currently tied to the Azzurri until 2016, while his new terms will run until the summer of 2017.

As part of the discussions, it is being claimed that Napoli will include a buy-out clause which will be set at €55m.

Ezequiel Lavezzi had a €31m buy-out clause inserted into his contract before he left for Paris Saint-Germain earlier this summer.

It is being claimed that Cavani could put pen to paper on the fresh agreement during a meeting later this week.

Cavani has scored 68 goals in 97 games for the Neapolitans.
