“It was a miracle,” said the striker upon earning Napoli's first win of the tournament.
“I am very happy for this city that always supports us and pushes us on to greater things. I dedicate this goal to God and all the magnificent Napoli fans.
“Things were looking bleak, but we fought to the end and deserve this qualification. Steaua were set out very defensively and cut off all the spaces.
“We proved that with heart you can achieve anything. Going through to the knockouts was a very important objective.”
Napoli are the only Italian side left in the Europa League, as Juventus, Sampdoria and Palermo are already out.
When asked if he is starting to represent the new Diego Maradona at the San Paolo, Cavani was humble.
“I wouldn't even dream of such a thing. Diego was too important for this city. What I can say is that I want to give everything I've got for these fantastic fans.”
