“It is certainly a very difficult group, but it also provides some fascinating games that you never know when you’ll be able to play again in your life,” said the Paris Saint-Germain striker.

“Italy are one of the best teams in the world, so when I saw the draw that was my first thought. However, we must focus only on ourselves and getting to the competition in the best shape.”

Cavani knows Italian football very well, having played in the Peninsula for seven seasons – four at Palermo and three for Napoli.

El Matador also has experience against the Azzurri, scoring a brace in Uruguay’s 2-2 Confederations Cup draw on June 30. Italy eventually won that third place final on penalties.
