Catania have confirmed “we will not stand in the way” of Maxi Lopez joining Milan in January.

The Argentine has been heavily tipped as the replacement for Antonio Cassano, who is out for six months following a mini-stroke and heart surgery.

“Maxi Lopez to Milan? He can do well anywhere,” director Pietro Lo Monaco told Radio Kiss Kiss this evening.

“We are happy he is admired by a club of that stature. If the Rossoneri really do want him, then we will not stand in the way of a positive outcome to negotiations.”

Lopez has barely featured for the Elefantini this season, as Coach Vincenzo Montella has made it clear he prefers Gonzalo Bergessio in attack.

The hitman would be available on loan with an option to buy and is eligible for Champions League football from January.
