The Sicilian outfit have just been relegated from Italy’s top flight after a run of three straight wins to finish the campaign came too late to keep them up.

However, speaking to the Gazzetta Dello Sport, the official believes the Elefanti will use the momentum created in recent weeks to bounce straight back up from the second tier. He also blames complacency as the key factor behind their demise this time around.

“I’m not looking to make excuses for our relegation to Serie B,” Consentino stated. “We have all made mistakes in all areas.

“I would say that the error we all committed was complacency. That is the root of our relegation.

“Our results last year meant we got ahead of ourselves and lost our sense of reality.

“However, we will immediately return to Serie A, we will win the League next season in Serie B.

“We have spoken many times about the European dream and for me that is still a possibility. Give it three to four years and we will be in the Europa League.”
