Sampdoria are back to square one with Antonio Cassano, who refuses to leave the club – “I have no reason to change”.

Earlier this summer the Blucerchiati announced that FantAntonio was surplus to requirements, but the forward insisted he’d stay on regardless.

The two parties then came to an agreement for the Italian international to stay, with President Massimo Ferrero declaring the matter closed.

However, in recent days talk of an exit has resurfaced, and now Cassano is once again saying he’ll refuse to leave.

“All I can tell you is you’ll have to ask Dr Ferrero and [lawyer Antonio] Romei about my situation,” Cassano shrugged, speaking to Sky.

“The only sure thing is that I love Samp and the people, for the rest you’ll have to ask the two doctors.

“If I’m left out of the squad? Nothing will happen, it’s their problem. I’m registered with Sampdoria. I’ve had five years outside the squad of various teams, and I can quite happily stay here.

“In fact, I’ll be happier, because this time I’m outside the squad of the team I love, I’m at home. So it’s their problem, not mine.

“So I’ll refuse to leave? Absolutely, I have no reason to change. I did everything to come back here, and now that I’m here I’m happy.

“If there are any problems you’ll have to ask the two doctors, I haven’t caused any problems.

“The only problem was right after the derby [against Genoa] as everyone knows, they sent me a letter and I don’t know what happened after that.

“The relationship wasn’t re-established, they talk to me through the newspapers. Then they spoke to me about a month ago telling me I’m the eighth-choice striker after [Andrés] Ponce and even [19-year-old Federico] Bonazzoli.

“I accepted it calmly, because I don’t want to cause problems for the team I love. It’s their problem, not mine.”
