The 29-year-old has been given the all clear to resume his professional playing career some five months on from suffering a mini stroke on the trip home from Milan’s game against Roma.
Requiring heart surgery to rectify a rare condition, the playmaker revealed this week that his initial fears were not related to the game.
“I was afraid of dying and then past that, I thought about giving up football, he told Studio Sport on Thursday.
After being the green light to play again, Cassano, who has been training since January, took part in a friendly against the Rossoneri’s youth team yesterday.
“Now I am ready to return, perhaps as early as Saturday against Fiorentina.”
