Fiorentina are on the verge of signing Mattia Cassani on a permanent basis, reports the Gazzetta dello Sport.

The right-back joined the Tuscan club last summer in a loan move from Palermo which cost the Viola €2m. His buy-out was set at €5m.

The Gazzetta is today referring to the operation as a done deal and an official announcement is expected in the very near future.

Cassani didn’t have the easiest of campaigns at the Stadio Franchi, as fitness issues restricted him to just 26 League games.

The 28-year-old’s problems subsequently saw him miss out selection for Euro 2012 with Italy despite being a regular fixture in the Giro Azzurro under Cesare Prandelli.
