Iker Casillas is “not surprised” by Italy’s success and notes former Real Madrid teammate Antonio Cassano has matured.

Spain faced the Azzurri in the opening 1-1 draw on June 10 and now come together again in Kiev for tomorrow’s Final.

“Italy played very well throughout the tournament. I am not remotely surprised they reached the Final,” Casillas told Onda Cero radio.

“Mario Balotelli and Cassano form a great partnership. When Cassano played at Real Madrid he was in a different phase of his life, so nothing at all like he is now.”

The goalkeeper is Spain’s captain, just as Gigi Buffon wears the armband for Italy.

“Buffon is a reference point for everyone. I am very happy he is still playing at this level. Seeing him do so well at his age really gives me

hope.”

Casillas is 31, while Buffon is now 34.
