The Sao Paulo player is considered as a rising star in the South American game and he's caught the attention of Roma sporting director Walter Sabatini.

Although it was suggested that Inter were in pole position for the 19-year-old, the capital outfit could make a late swoop.

Casemiro, who nets €80,000 a year, is still just 19 and is contracted to his present club until 2015.

Sao Paulo value him at €30m, but it is being suggested that an offer of €14m would be enough for the Brazilian outfit to sell.

Earlier today Roma signed Maarten Stekelenburg from Ajax for €6.3m, while they sold Mirko Vucinic to Juve on Monday for €15m.
