The Italian Coach and his assistant manager Christian Panucci see their World Cup hopes hanging by a thread after today’s 1-0 loss in Rio de Janeiro.

“We twice had a great opportunity to score, but football is like that,” Capello told Sky Sport Italia.

“We played better than Belgium, but they scored the goal. My team played with energy and picked up the pace compared to the last game, so I am disappointed by how it ended.”

Belgium have already qualified on six points, leaving Russia on one point from two games.

This evening Algeria (zero) and South Korea (one) go head-to-head in the other Group H tie.

“Now we have to play against Algeria and then see where we are.”
