Fabio Cannavaro believes Napoli should aim to win the Europa League – “I don’t know why, over time, Italian teams have snubbed this competition”.
The former centre-back lifted the trophy with Parma in 1999, and wants his home club to follow that lead 20 years on.
“I was the last to win what was still the UEFA Cup in 1999,” Cannavaro recalled, speaking to Il Mattino.

“I was at Parma, and at that time we dominated the UEFA Cup like the Spaniards do now. I don’t know why, over time, Italian teams have snubbed this competition, although it’s certainly tiring.
“Winning it brings great joy though, and Napoli have all the means to do that.”
