Paolo Cannavaro’s agent claims Napoli have rewarded other players with improved contracts and ignored him.

The captain’s entourage, including brother Fabio, have murmured recently that the contract terms are unacceptable for someone in his role.

Now his agent Gaetano Fedele has come out to accuse the club of actively attempting to force him out of his hometown stadium.

“Paolo always does his job and despite that is always criticised,” Fedele told Radio Kiss Kiss.

“He doesn’t want to be treated differently to the other players just because he is the captain, but the other protagonists of the season who did well saw their contracts improved and he hasn’t.

“I get the feeling they are trying to see out his contract, the way they did with Campagnaro. Except in that situation Campagnaro couldn’t reach a financial deal with the directors, whereas Cannavaro has always said he’s not worried about money. He wants to end his career with Napoli.”

The 32-year-old is under contract until June 30 2015 and this is his seventh consecutive season at Napoli, having left in 1999 after going through their youth academy.

“There is time to discuss it and the club has other priorities right now, but I firmly hope that the issue can be resolved this year.”

Campagnaro was allowed to leave on a free transfer this summer to join Inter.
