“I had the good fortune to play and win the Intercontinental Cup with Luis Figo, but I don't think my motivation is any different to that of my teammates,” said former Real Madrid star Cambiasso.

“I am glad to have made the journey all the way here with the other players through the Champions League.

“It would also be extra special compared to the trophy I already won, as back then we were still playing under the old one-match formula.”

Many were expecting this to also be a straight battle between the champions of Europe and South America, but Mazembe caused a huge upset by beating Internacional 2-0 in the semi-final.

“We must not underestimate our opponents, giving Mazembe due credit for all they have achieved,” continued Cambiasso.

“Let's not forget they also beat Mexicans Pachuca, so two of the sides who could've been favourites to win the tournament.

“Mazembe will be very motivated, but that can only be a danger if we don't approach this game the same way. If Inter have the right mentality, then we won't run risks.”
