Calhanoglu only stated two days ago that he was staying at Milan after it was claimed Gennaro Gattuso had vetoed his move to Leipzig.

However, Calciomercato.com believes there is a draft agreement in place for the Turk to return to Bundesliga in a deal worth ‘close to €20m’.

Furthermore, the 25-year-old is becoming ‘more and more convinced’ by the prospect of joining Leipzig, who are fourth in the German top flight.

Nonetheless, the website warns Gattuso remains ‘the biggest obstacle’ and Calhanoglu intends to talk to his ‘footballing father’ before possibly accepting the offer, so as not to ‘betray’ him.

The Rossoneri boss is considered to have revitalised the attacking midfielder last season, while leaping to his defence this term after some of his performances came in for criticism.
