Palermo haven’t yet contacted Siena regarding striker Emanuele Calaio, but the switch remains a possibility.

Speculation has grown that Calaio could be the third individual to defect from the Robur to the Rosanero this summer, with sporting director Giorgio Perinetti already having joined the Sicilian club and Coach Giuseppe Sannino a few details away from following.

“For us it would be a pleasure to follow the director and Coach there, but at present these are only rumours,” commented Umberto Calaio, the player’s agent and brother, to calcionews24.com.

“At this time Palermo appear complete up front and such an operation does not seem feasible. However, I would not rule anything out as the summer is long.”

The former Napoli forward was born in Palermo and the sentimental value of a return home could tempt him if the Aquile make their interest official.

The season past was Calaio's most successful in Serie A, the 30-year-old forming a productive strike partnership with youngster Mattia Destro in Tuscany and hitting a personal best 11 League goals before fracturing his fibula in March.
